Trim Levels
When you're trying to find the right Escape, you'll have to consider four different trim levels that each show off impressive exterior features. At the base S trim, you already get the compact and sleek design with a black mesh grille, but the SE upgrades to chrome accents, painted door handles, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Upgrading to the SEL will net you some extra exterior features, including fog lamps and 18-inch machine-face aluminum wheels. The top trim is known as the Titanium, and it boasts an impressive chrome exterior trim to an even greater extent, black roof-rack side rails, and 19-inch wheels.

Engine
The Escape is powered by one of four engine options, and they each have plenty of power to offer. The first is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine that's standard with auto start-stop technology. It features 181 horsepower, but if you upgrade to the 2-liter turbo-four, you'll have 250 horsepower at your disposal. The other two engines are hybrid variants of which one is standard and the other is a plug-in variation.
Performance
This crossover works hard to live up to its name by offering stunning performance that's easy to access with its selectable drive modes. With this system, you can choose between modes like normal, sport, eco, slippery, and deep snow/sand to automatically augment your drivetrain and control systems to help take on the specified road conditions. Additionally, the Escape has impressive towing capacity for a crossover, as it's able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. Even the hybrid can tow 1,500 pounds when properly equipped.
Interior
The cabin of the Escape is spacious and stylish with standard high-textured cloth seating and the option to upgrade to faux leather or genuine leather. You can also opt for the 8-inch touch-screen interface to work with the infotainment system, which runs on Ford's Sync 3. Of course, higher trim levels also get a head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and in-dash navigation.
Safety Features
Safety features are always a priority with Ford, and the Escape is no exception. With this vehicle, you'll find a variety of driver assistance features in the Co-Pilot360 system that's standard on every single Escape model. This includes standard features such as forward collision warning with automated emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning with lane keeping assist. Plus, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Escape a full five stars in its overall safety rating.
