This year the Jeep Compass brings a few new features to the table, but most of them are just catching up to the Bronco Sport. The power of the engine has been boosted in the Compass, and it now offers standard all-wheel drive and a few extra safety features. The Bronco Sport, on the other hand, hits showrooms with a sleek Black Diamond Off-Road package to kick up its trailblazing performance.
Power and Performance
This year's Jeep Compass comes with a new, more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that kicks out 200 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). Ford's 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, on the other hand, gives you 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic and AWD. Even with its more powerful engine, Jeep cannot measure up.
Cabin and Storage Space
Ford also beats out Jeep in terms of the amount of space inside the cabin. You get 29.4 cubic feet behind the back seats in the Bronco Sport, expandable to 60.6 cubic feet with the seats folded. The Compass gives you 27.2 cubic feet behind the back seats, expandable to 59.8 cubic feet. Bronco passengers get more headroom too with almost 2 more inches upfront and over 3 more inches in the back than the Compass.
