Ford Co-Pilot360 is a suite of advanced safety features that keep you and your passengers far safer from harm when driving. By monitoring your surroundings, warning you of obstacles and collision hazards, enhancing your reaction times, and even automatically responding to threats, these features make Ford cars some of the safest vehicles on the road today. Here’s an outline of a few key Ford Co-Pilot360 features included in the suite as standard or available on all Ford models.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Driver fatigue creates a danger on long journeys. With Adaptive Cruise Control, your Ford takes over driving for you on certain stretches of the highway, allowing you to relax, although you still need to keep your eyes on the road. Once you preset a distance for your car to maintain from vehicles ahead, your Ford will automatically brake, accelerate, and steer to keep you safely cruising toward your destination.
Stop-and-Go
When Adaptive Cruise Control is working, Stop-and-Go allows your car to slow to a halt in traffic. Once the car ahead starts moving again, your car will too, all the while on autopilot.
Lane Centering
Accidents sometimes happen when a distracted or tired driver drifts into the neighboring lane unintentionally. This risk is drastically reduced with Lane Centering, which monitors the lane markers and alerts you if you begin to wander. When combined with Adaptive Cruise Control, it keeps your car firmly centered while the car travels automatically.
Pre-Collision Assist
You’re far less likely to be involved or injured in a frontal collision with Pre-Collision Assist active. Your car continually monitors the road, detecting collision threats from the car ahead suddenly stopping, another vehicle crossing your path, or even a pedestrian walking into the road. You’ll then be clearly warned with an audible and visual alert. If necessary, the automatic emergency brakes will also be activated to avoid or reduce the impact.
Reverse Brake Assist
If you’re uncomfortable when reversing during a parking maneuver, you’ll appreciate the help of Reverse Brake Assist. Whenever your car is moving backward, it’s monitoring the area behind you. Should a vehicle, pedestrian, or shopping cart get too close, you’ll be warned and the brakes will also be automatically applied if required.
